Vánoce na plážiChristmas on the beach

Letošní Vánoce trávíme trochu netradičně. 16. prosince jsme prchli před všeobecnou sváteční horečkou a po úspěšném zdolání trasy Praha-Bratislava-Vídeň-Curych-Soul-Auckland a menší diskuzi s imigračním úředníkem se ocitáme v sice letním, ale silném dešti před mezinárodním terminálem v Aucklandu.

Během následujících 2 dní se nám daří sehnat auto dle našich představ (tj. Mitsubishi Delica Spacegear Super Exceed 2.8 intercooler turbo) a s radostí dáváme sbohem civilizaci.

První naše cesta vedla na poloostrov Coromandel, kde jsme okusili pláže, ochutnali místní ústříce a nakoupili ryby na Šťedrý večer. Mimo jiné jsme už stihli zjistit, že klimatizace zvládne vycucnout baterku v autě vcelku rychle, ale kdy se člověku poštestí, aby to bylo přes ulici od obchodu, kde se dají koupit startovací kabely a všude je spousta lidí ochotných pomoct.

Dnes, 24. jsme se poflakovali na pláži Waihi, jedli uzené krevety, utekli před dešťem do termálních bazénů a teď se chystáme najít pěknou pláž na další noc. V neděli už máme sraz se Zajícem a konečně si taky zapádluju.

On December 16th, we ran away from general holiday rush and after successful accomplishment of the journey Prague-Bratislava-Viena-Zurych-Seoul-Auckland and a small discussion with an immigration officer, we find ourselves in a summer but heavy rain at the international terminal in Auckland.

In next 2 days we manage to get a car according to our needs (i.e. Mitsubishi Delica Spacegear Super Exceed 2.8 intercooler turbo) and with much joy we say goodbye to civilisation.

Our first trip led to Coromandel peninsula where we enjoyed the beaches, tasted local oysters and bought some fish for the Christmas Eve. Apart from that we already found out that the car’s air condition can suck the battery empty fairly quickly, but when one gets so lucky to experience that just across the street from a shop where you can buy jumper cables and with lots of people around willing to help.

Today, 24th December, we just relaxed on the Waihi beach, ate smoked prawns, found shelter in thermal pools when it rained and now we’re gonna find ourselves a nice beach for this night. On Sunday we’re meeting Honza Lasko and finally I get to paddle, too.
